Coffe House Finder

Here's a cool site that helps you find non-corporate coffe shops in your zip code. Cool beans.

I think the problem is that they only search within 5 miles of the zip code you give them. I get zero results for 59718 but four results for 59715 (if it's missing any, you can add them on the Add A Cafe page).

Not sure why they don't let you expand the search area. Maybe they assume you don't have a car.

I read their How It Works page this time. Turns out that it started as an art project and expanded using volunteer server space on random people's computers. Maybe that's why they don't want to add more functionality, because they don't want to stress the system with more demands.
