Do It!

Tiger got back on track last week at Hoy Lake, winning The Open Championship (a.k.a the British Open). He got pretty choked up after the victory, this being the first since his father passed away. He's shown above with his wife, Elin. The media got lots of pictures of tiger overwhelmed by emotion, being comforted by his caddy, and so forth. I couldn't bring myself to post the real tear-jerkers. Too much tender man hugging, I suppose. I didn't want to throw Tiger's soft side out there like that.
We got to see some good matches on the other days, too. Having grounds passes doesn't allow you to get into centre court or court number one, but in a way it's better, because the other courts are much smaller and you always get great seats.
We saw Venus Williams and Bob Bryant play mixed doubles. Here they are at the change over.
But none is so photogenic as my lovely wife. Here she is demonstrating one of the many uses of her Wimbledon towel (Arthur Dent would be proud) and enjoying some berries.
The London Eye is the world's largest Ferris wheel. It is 443 feet tall and is located across the River Thames from Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. I get the impression that some folks think building a giant Ferris wheel in the middle of historic London was not such a good idea. They are wrong, it is cool.
And the happy tourists...
The first two days were spent doing full-on sightseeing stuff. We went to see the houses of parliment, Big Ben, etc. It was really crowded so we bailed pretty quickly. The only items of interest that we missed were the guys in the red suits who don't move (guarding the Queen's jewels?). It's nice to see that stuff but then again you just look at it for a bit and then move along.
A lot of history took place along the Thames: Roman invasions, Viking invasions, and now lots of expensive real estate. Here's a shot of the Globe Theatre, where Shakespeare plays were originally performed.
